Diet & Nutrition – Rocking Horse Nursery
Meal times at the Rocking Horse Nursery are a social time for the children to develop healthy habits with their friends and the staff as role models.
All our nutritionally balanced meals are cooked on the premises fresh every day by the talented team of chefs based in the Racecourse kitchens, we use mealtimes as opportunities to talk about healthy eating and encourage good social skills and eating habits. Where possible we source our produce locally. All special dietary requirements are accommodated.
We supply all the formula feeds up to when the child is a year old and then work with the parent when they start being weaned catering to special diets.
We offer the children (depending on their attendance) the following meals:
Breakfast – choice of cereals
Morning snack – A variety of fresh fruit
Lunch – two course meal with hot main on a 3 week rotation. Meals such as risotto, spaghetti bolognaise, roast dinner and puddings include jelly, fruit salad and fruit pies. Vegetarian options are always available. We change the menu three to four times a year and send the new menus out to our parents for consultation prior to implementation.
Afternoon tea – The children enjoy an afternoon tea which can include sandwiches, toast, crudities followed by fruit.
Drinks – Water is available throughout the day and milk is offered at snack times.
