Their Early Years – Rocking Horse Nursery

Early Years Foundation Stage

The Rocking Horse Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

EYFS is the statutory framework that sets the standards which all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.

Our aim at the Nursery is to provide children with opportunities to develop a wide range of skills, covering all aspects of their development – social, physical, intellectual, communication and emotional. Such opportunities are presented as play-based, hands on learning experiences where children can explore and experiment.

Every child is treated as an individual and provided with age and development appropriate learning opportunities to suit their specific needs. This is implemented through a mixture of child-initiated and adult-led activities.

We support the children’s wellbeing and help them to develop skills to help them manage their own feelings but to also be mindful of others feelings enabling them to show empathy.

The EYFS promotes teaching and learning to ensure a child’s ‘school readiness’. Children are given a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress.
